Thanksgiving Travel At Levels Not Seen Since 2007
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - The holiday travel rush is in full swing, and travel experts say they expect more people to leave home for Thanksgiving this year than in any single year dating back to 2007.
"It gets a little crazier around the holidays," said Lynne Kelm, who flew to L.A.
The Thanksgiving rush is already in high gear at Sacramento International Airport.
"This time of year, if you're going to travel, you have to put up with that. This is the busy travel week of the year," said Steve Sill, who flew to Washington.
With long lines and big crowds comes the added stress of getting to the airport on time. Travelers will also have to deal with wet weather arriving Tuesday.
"Leaving on Monday helps a lot; I wouldn't want to travel Wednesday," said MJ Sill, a traveler.
With the storm hours away, the Gillespie family is getting away for the holiday week to Cabo San Lucas.
"Can't wait to get to Cabo…it's going to be cold here," said Sarah Gillespie.
"Let it rain; we need the rain; if I'm here or not, rain -- even if I'm here, rain," said Sill.
And the holiday travel of getting on a plane doesn't seem to bother passengers after the recent terror attacks.
"It happens, it happens; you can't change it," said Sunny Gillespie.
"I can't live in a bubble; I can't stay at home all the time. Do what you got to do, live your life," said Kelm.
Musicians will begin performing at the airport on Tuesday, helping to make travel more enjoyable.
