Temperatures Cool As Winds Pick Up
The first week of fall has brought many weather changes to the region, including below normal temperatures and windy conditions.
Gusty north winds up to 30 mph will continue through Thursday evening, with sunny skies and cool high temperatures in the mid 70s. That's about 10 degrees cooler than normal for this time of year.
On Friday, a building ridge of high pressure will warm high temperatures near 80 degrees, with sunshine and mid 80s expected on Saturday.
Sunday will cool a bit, going back to a high of 82 degrees for the Sacramento area. Look for some cloud cover possibly moving in from the north during the afternoon, with the chance of light rain showers Sunday evening.
Light rain is possible on Monday -- mainly north of Interstate 80 -- as another low pressure system brushes by just to our north.
High temperatures will cool back into the upper 70s for the valley. Slightly milder air with this system will keep snow levels in the Sierra generally above 7000 feet in elevation.
