Teen On Motorized Toilet Turning Heads In Lodi
LODI (CBS13) -- It's a potty with power, a commode that cruises.
"It's really unique, I'll say that. You don't see that every day," a fellow Lodi High School student remarked.
Zech Hogarth, a Lodi High teen who's too young to have a driver's license, invented a motorized loo.
"For world history, Mr. Zoros' class, we had to build an invention," Zech explains.
Talk about going that extra mile.
"He just looked at it and smiled. I guess it would be like disbelief," Zech says of his teacher's reaction.
A good enough invention to earn not No. 2, but No. 1 in his class. An "A" and extra credit.
"He borrowed some stuff, found some stuff," Zech's father, Scott, explains.
And the toilet? "Uh, that's actually out of the garage."
With the help of his dad, they turned their old garage toilet into one that flies up to 20 miles an hour.
The class assignment was to invent something that functions. Zech had his target consumer in mind.
"The guy that has to go all the time, has to be on the job and just can't hold it for very long," Zech explains.
Classmates had varying opinions on the invention.
"Um, I don't think people would want to use the bathroom outside," Stafania Diaz says.
"It's amazing," a male student counters. "I'd use it for a regular toilet, but I don't know if the state patrol would let me do that.
There's just one catch. This bowl doesn't flush.
"It don't work? Aw, man, I need to wash my hands," one guy remarked.
His dad says Zech's always been an inventor, even creating a snorkel out of a juicy cup when he was 2.
"He's definitely got a sense of humor. There's never a surprise in my house, there's always something new," Scott says. "But this one tops the list."
And because it's battery-powered, this potty on wheels doesn't give off any harmful gases.
