Teen Gets Prison For Lightsaber Sex Assault

FULLERTON, Calif. (AP) -- A Southern California teenager tried as an adult has been sentenced to 30 years to life in prison for sexually assaulting a 9-year-old with a lightsaber toy.

Orange County prosecutors say 19-year-old Javier Enrique Perez of Riverside, who was 16 at the time of the crime, received the sentence Friday.

In May a jury found him guilty of anally penetrating the boy with the lightsaber and another child's hand. He was convicted of one felony count of sexual penetration by foreign object by force, one felony count of aggravated sexual assault of a child and two felony counts of forcible lewd acts on a child under 14.

Prosecutors say the assault happened in 2008 at a Santa Ana home, where the residents were watching the victims and Perez was visiting.
