Tanker Crash Causes Chain-Reaction Accident On Interstate 5

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – A crash involving two big rigs and a number of cars blocked southbound Interstate 5 for several hours Wednesday morning.

CHP says a tanker truck crashed through the center divide on southbound I-5 at Pocket Road around 3:30 a.m. As that tanker truck swung around, it hit a Honda sedan that was then rear-ended by another big rig and a second vehicle.

The driver of the Honda was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Two other people were also transported to the hospital with less severe injuries.

All lanes of southbound I-5 were shut down as crews cleared the accident. All lanes were reopened just after 6 a.m.
