Suspects Sought In Three Restaurant Robberies
CITRUS HEIGHTS (CBS13) – Two suspects who carried out a trio of brazen armed robberies at local restaurants are still at large, according to authorities.
The Citrus Heights Police Department said one of the unidentified suspects first struck at a Mr. Pickle's sandwich shop near Sylvan Road and Old Auburn Road in Citrus Heights, entering the store with his face covered and robbing one of the workers at gunpoint.
"He was in the back slicing some turkey and the customer just had a hood on, so he just thought he was a customer," said employee Kourtney Carlson.
Minutes later, an armed suspect with a similar description stopped at Carolina's Mexican Food on Greenback Lane, according to restaurant manager Lupe Hernandez.
"As soon as he walked in he started pointing a gun, so we didn't want to take a chance," Hernandez said. "He said if we don't put our hands up he's going to shoot us."
Police believe the same suspect also robbed a donut shop near the intersection of Watt Avenue and Center Court Lane in Antelope.
A second suspect may have acted as the getaway driver for the armed man, transporting him quickly away from the scene in a gray 2000 Honda sedan with front end damage.
There is not a clear description of the suspects.
