Suspects Arrested After California Park Ranger SUV Stolen
LOS ANGELES (AP) — The California Highway Patrol has stopped a park ranger SUV that was stolen during a traffic stop north of Los Angeles.
CHP Officer Rick Quintero says the vehicle was stolen from rangers at Hungry Valley State Park who had made a stop of a reportedly stolen vehicle Monday morning.
Quintero says the rangers had handcuffed a woman and put her in the SUV when a second suspect jumped in the patrol vehicle and drove off, attempting to strike a ranger.
Quintero says shots were fired during the incident.
The SUV sped through streets, sideswiping other vehicles before coming to a halt on a freeway. CHP officers approached the SUV, pulled out the handcuffed woman and then the driver, who appeared to be injured. Paramedics rushed the driver to an ambulance.
