Suspected Explosive Device In Downtown Sacramento Just Bucket Of Trash
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - Officers were busy overnight investigating a suspicious-looking device in downtown Sacramento.
The device was found in an apartment building on 7th Street while officers were conducting a welfare check. They noticed several wires attached to a five-gallon bucket inside the apartment.
Officers thought it might be an explosive, so they called for back-up.
A robot was used to clear the device, which ended up being a bucket full of trash.
"Bucket of trash, but I'll tell you what, when I looked at it I know why officers called for the explosive ordinance team. It looked very suspicious," said Sacramento police Lt. Dennis Joy.
Officers are questioning one man after the incident.
Roads were closed and apartments directly connected to that unit were evacuated for a short time.
