Suspect To Be Charged In Vacaville Double Homicide

VACAVILLE (CBS13) - A man suspected of killing two people and wounding another at a Vacaville apartment complex last month has been booked into Solano County Jail on murder and attempted murder charges.

Richard Calkins, 18, is scheduled to be arraigned on the charges Tuesday afternoon in Solano County Superior Court.

He was transferred to the jail from a hospital where he was being treated for a head injury he suffered when he fell on the steps of the Vacaville police station after being shot with a Taser shortly after the Nov. 16 shootings.

Two victims, Richard Perez, 20, and Cameron Silva, 21, both of Vacaville, were found dead of gunshot wounds inside an apartment in the 500 block of William Street on Nov. 16.

The third victim, Sarah Berkheimer, 21, of Vacaville, was found on the street outside the apartment. She also suffered gunshot wounds and was treated at UC Davis Medical Center and later released.

After the shootings, Calkins showed up at the Police Department and began smashing up the lobby.  An officer stunned him with a Taser gun and he was arrested.
