Suspect In Vacaville Shooting Pleads Not Guilty
VACAVILLE, Calif. (AP) -- A Vacaville man has pleaded not guilty to charges that he fatally shot two people and wounded another at an apartment complex.
According to The Reporter of Vacaville, 18-year-old Richard Ruben Calkins entered the plea to two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder on Wednesday in Solano County Superior Court.
Authorities say Calkins fatally shot 20-year-old Richard Matcham Perez and 21-year-old Cameron Scott Silva and shot and wounded 21-year-old Sarah Jane Berkheimer on Nov. 16 at the Vacaville apartment complex.
A possible motive for the shooting has not been disclosed, but authorities have said Calkins' girlfriend lived in the apartment where the shooting occurred.
Calkins was arrested shortly after the incident when he allegedly stormed a police station and smashed a glass door and window.
