Fairfield Man Who Escaped SWAT Standoff Now In Custody
FAIRFIELD, Calif. (CBS13) - A man who allegedly assaulted his mother and then escaped during a SWAT standoff overnight in Fairfield is now in police custody.
Police say 39-year-old Michael Austin is now in custody after several hours on the run. The circumstanced surrounding his arrest aren't known.
Police were first called to a home on Doral and Paradise Valley Drives around 8:20 on Wednesday night after getting reports that Austin had choked his 75-year-old mother until she nearly lost consciousness and aimed a gun at her head.
The woman was able to flee and make it to a neighbor's house to call 911.
When police arrived, they spotted Austin inside the home.
After a four-hour standoff, SWAT officers made a move into the home.
Austin was not found inside the home or during a search of the surrounding area.
