Suspect Arrested For Shooting Man After Fender Bender
MODESTO, Calif. (CBS13) -- Modesto police have arrested a man suspected of shooting a 20-year-old man who rear-ended his vehicle after getting a tip from the victim himself.
Police say on Tuesday, 20-year-old Victor Ramirez and the 19-year-old victim began arguing while assessing the damage from the accident, which occurred around 10 p.m. Tuesday.
When Ramirez pulled a gun, the victim attempted to flee in his car with a 18-year-old female friend but Ramirez followed. At some point, the victim got out of the car and began running, at which point the Ramirez reportedly shot him in the back and drove away.
The victim was recovering on Wednesday when he spotted Ramirez' truck in the 500 block of Pirinen Lane and called police. Police found the truck parked about a block away at a home on the 2800 block of Andalusia Way and waited for him.
Police arrested Ramirez when he left a house and approached his truck. He was booked into the Stanislaus County Jail for attempted murder.
Officers also searched the home with permission of the owner and found 30 plant marijuana grow, a stolen handgun, and methamphetamine. The homeowner, Richard Garcia, was was arrested for cultivation of marijuana, possession of a methamphetamine, possession of a stolen gun, and being a felon in possession of a loaded gun.
