Suspect Armed With A Gun Shot, Killed By Officer In Citrus Heights
CITRUS HEIGHTS (CBS13) – Police say a neighborhood is now safe after one person was killed in an officer-involved shooting.
The incident started just after 10 p.m. Monday on Grenola Way when officers responded to the area after a suspect was reported to be armed with a gun.
Shortly after officers arrived on scene, an officer-involved shooting occurred.
The suspect was shot and pronounced dead at the scene.
No officers were hurt in the shooting.
Neighbors were told to shelter in place during the ordeal.
"Well the gunshots were scary," said neighbor Lori Hryniewicki. "We have babies in the house [and were] worried for the children and our own health and safety."
Citrus Heights police say suspicious gas canisters were found at scene of the shooting, but have since been rendered safe.
