Super Bowl Fans Stuck At Sacramento International Airport

SACRAMENTO (CBS13/AP) – A massive storm blanketing much of the Midwest is preventing thousands of football fans from making their way to icy Texas in time to see the Super Bow, including dozens of people stuck at Sacramento International Airport.

At least 1,250 flights to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport have been canceled this week.

Passengers are being told that flights out of Sacramento to Dallas could possibly start at 3 p.m. this afternoon.

But if that doesn't happen, at least two fans stuck at Sac Int'l, who spent $2,500 each on tickets to the game, say they'll rent a car and drive to Dallas.

The National Football League has talked to the airlines but hasn't demanded additional flights, said NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy.

"We did not make any specific requests," he said. "They recognize the importance of the Super Bowl."
