Students Still Occupying UC Davis' Financial Office
DAVIS (CBS13) -- Dozens of Occupy UC Davis student protesters are still controlling a building on campus following a strike at the University Monday.
The protesters spent the night inside Dutton Hall and could be there much longer. The students are calling for a two-week blockade of the school's financial office.
The group took over the hall late Monday after getting 15 minutes to express their views to school leaders during a meeting of the UC Board of Regents.
"I think sending people here is a symbolic message," protester Monica Smith told CBS13 o Monday.
Their message: the cost of their education too high and their input is too small.
The students have a list of demands to present to the university, including the resignation of UC Chancellor Katehi. A petition asking for her resignation has garnered more than 107,000 signatures, but Katehi has repeatedly insisted she has no plans on stepping down.
