Storm Sparks Flood Concerns In San Joaquin Valley

MODESTO, Calif. (CBS13) –
Weather experts have issued a flood advisory for Stanislaus County due to a series of thunderstorms that is threatening to cause some stream and urban flooding.

The National Weather Service said a thunderstorm complex is expected to continue dumping heavy rain and hail across the Northern San Joaquin Valley and could cause flooding in low-lying areas around Turlock, Modesto, Ceres, Newman and other communities.

Small creeks could see sudden elevated water levels and stretches of roads with poor drainage could develop issues with standing water.

The strong storm system brought wind gusts of more than 40 MPH and possible conditions for funnel clouds for communities including Copper Cove Village, Tuttletown, Copperopolis, Hodson and Carson Hill.

The unseasonably cold storm has already set rainfall records across Northern California and set record low high temperatures across the Valley.
