Stockton Remembers Woman Killed In Bank Heist
STOCKTON (CBS13) – People from all over the area met at the Waterfront Hotel in Stockton – a city the mayor says is in mourning and pain.
"Let's just have a moment for Misty," Jordan Coats said as candles were lit in remembrance of Misty Holt-Singh, who was killed in Wednesday's bank heist and hostage situation.
It was a moment more than a thousand people took part in.
"Misty will always be part of our hearts and souls," said Stockton Mayor Anthony Silva.
Some were close family members, like her step father Tom Farmer.
"It's really hard to watch loved ones die," Farmer said. "I've seen it so many times on the TV, and I thought, 'Oh, thank God I'm not in their shoes.' And now that I'm in their shoes ... I don't know what to say, what to do. Nothing."
Others were distant relatives
"I was in a state of shock. I came to show support for the family," said Elaine Holt.
Misty's own son, Paul Singh, was humbled by the large crowd.
"I've seen people that I haven't seen on years," Singh said. "It's just amazing to see all these people come out and support us the way that they do."
Many others in attendance said they did not know Misty personally, but felt compelled to be at the vigil to pay their respects.
