Home Of Stockton Prom King Targeted By Vandals
STOCKON (CBS13) - A Stockton high school prom king was targeted by vandals just hours before the prom. Now his family wants to know who is behind the disturbing words in red spray paint all over their property.
On Saturday night, 18-year-old Brandon Or had a crowning moment few teenagers ever get: he won the title of Prom King. But his moment was tarnished before prom even began.
"Wake up in the middle of the night and spray paint all of this?" said his father Bora Ros.
Their neighbor's security camera showed the tail end of what happened early Saturday morning. Five cars in the driveway and two garage doors were spray painted with explicit graffiti about Brandon. The graffiti contained hurtful messages that have left Or's family distraught.
"He came out, he just sat down next to the car crying. He never [harmed] people, he's such a sweet boy," said Serey Or, Brandon's mother.
"I have to sand it, repaint the whole thing," said Ros as he buffed the garage door for painting. "I really don't have time. I work five days a week."
The 26-year Navy veteran commutes more than two hours each day to work in San Francisco at the VA hospital. Supporting a family of five means money is already tight enough. Now, looking at all the damage, Serey knows it's about to get even tighter.
"It's over $10,000," she said. "If you combine all of this, it's over $10,000."
She told CBS13 that they've decided to skip their $2,500 deductible and try using a $40 can of paint to handle the repairs. For Ros, it's hard to imagine why anyone would intentionally cause so much damage.
"It's a waste of time and money and resources," Ros said. "If you want to do something, do something good man. Do something for the country."
Now Serey hopes police can out find who did it so Brandon can move on.
"Just want them to leave us alone," she said. "We just pray inside. Let God take care of this."
According to Officer Joe Silva with the Stockton Police Department, the investigation is still ongoing. They have the video and they're working to identify the people responsible, who could face charges of felony vandalism.
