Stockton Navy Sailor Missing In South Carolina
STOCKTON (CBS13) — A Navy sailor from Stockton has been missing for more than a week.
Rena Ferdin last talked to her son, Vincent Ferdin, when he wished her a happy birthday on Sept. 18.
Vincent, a graduate of East Union High School, is a sailor in the Navy stationed in South Carolina.
According to South Carolina investigators, his roommate says he left the apartment at midnight to ride his bike to his girlfriend's home. He was seen leaving her Ladson, South Carolina, home early the next morning, but he hasn't been seen since.
"We all had no indication that anything was wrong or amiss with Vincent," said Rena Ferdin.
The Navy told her that her son didn't report to work the following Monday,
Vincent's family pastor, Gordon Richardson, says his mother and Manteca relatives are searching for him in South Carolina.
"So from the 19th to where we are today, there's no communication. His cellphone is off," he said.
His family says there are no clues. He left his apartment without his wallet and ID.
"They did find his car at a Jiffy Lube. His friend was supposed to pick him up," Richardson said.
He says the sailor is social and very active in the church and school and took his Navy job seriously.
"He's kind of a little rambunctious, but most kids are. But he was very talented. He played the trumpet. He's an amazing trumpet player. So, it's not really his character to come up missing like this," he said.
His family has no leads, just days before his 20th birthday on Friday.
