Stockton, Modesto Rank Among Worst Places To Find A Job, But There's Hope
STOCKTON (CBS13) — Two of the toughest cities in the nation to find a job are in the valley, as job seekers are having a hard time finding work in Stockton and Modesto.
A new Wallethub survey shows the two cities in the Bottom 10 of the nation's most populated cities when it comes to finding work.
There are more jobs compared to this time last year as Worknet officials say they've helped fill 6,000 new positions year to year.
"Individuals looking for jobs, there's jobs out here so if they're really aggressive spending full time to find a job, they'll find a job," said director John Solis.
Looking for nontraditional jobs is one way to get your foot in the door. It's advice Anthony Espejo is hoping to take all the way to the bank.
"I know there could be a job opening somewhere inside Stockton and it kind of motivates me to kind of not give up on it," he said.
The numbers in Stockton and Modesto also look bad, because October and November are farm labor layoff months that add to the statistics.
