Lodi man, 24, struck and killed on Highway 99 in Stockton

STOCKTON – A Lodi man has died after he was struck by a vehicle on Highway 99 late Sunday night, authorities said.

California Highway Patrol said, just after 11:30 p.m., a person who was in the southbound lanes of SR-99 near Armstrong Road was struck by a minivan.

First responders said they observed "obvious signs of death" and called for the coroner to respond.

The name of the person killed has not been released, but CHP noted he was a 24-year-old Lodi resident.

Exactly why the man was on the freeway is under investigation.
