Thieves Take Flatscreen TVs, Casket From Stockton Funeral Homes
STOCKTON (CBS13) - Four people have been arrested after breaking into a funeral home in Stockton, according to police.
The suspects were arrested just before 4 a.m. Tuesday with two of the suspects still inside the De Young Memorial Chapel on California Street.
Police say the suspects had televisions and audio equipment on them when they were arrested.
Another funeral home across the street had also been hit.
The owner of Sutter Street Memorial Chapel says someone took video and audio equipment and also an empty casket.
"They took the rolling device that goes underneath the casket so it's easy to move," said Sutter Street Memorial Chapel owner Michael Herring. "But there is no use for a casket, unless you need one."
Investigators say there is a strong possibility the two crimes are connected.
