Stockton Burglary Suspect's Trail Of Blood Makes Him Easier To Find
STOCKTON (CBS13) — A suspect's trail of blood make it easy for Stockton Police to track him to his home.
Insurance agent Chuck Taylor's surveillance video shows crystal clear pictures of suspect Benjamin Bernal on a mission to break in.
"'Here I am, come get me,' and that's basically what he was saying."
After throwing large rocks at the camera, the accused thief is caught on tape hurling a cement block that shatters the window.
As the man makes his way inside, he gets tripped up on broken glass.
About a minute later, the burglar reemerges carrying a blood-soaked computer.
The alarm that Taylor recently installed triggered a speedy police response. Officers followed the blood trail to his home, two doors down.
"You can tell this guy is not too brilliant," Taylor said. "For a $400 computer? Come on.
"Plus, getting his picture all over the camera? What an idiot."
Taylor got his computer back and is now forced to clean up the bloody mess left behind.
He believes it wasn't Bernal's first time inside his office, but hopefully it will be the last.
"Six months we've had this three times, and I'm sure it's the same guy," he said. "I can't prove that, but now with the camera we can."
Police say the suspect kicked the windows in the patrol car, which caused officers to restrain him.
