Still Slow Sledding For Motorists In Sierra; Mostly Sunny Skies Ahead
TWIN BRIDGES (CBS13) - Sierra ski resorts received a little bit more snowfall overnight in the last stages of a winter storm that hit Northern California this week.
Mostly sunny days and cold nights are in the forecast for the Sacramento area through the weekend. Highs are expected in the low 60s and overnight lows in the high 30s.
The rain accumulated this week was measured at .36 of an inch in Sacramento, according to the National Weather Service. Sacramento has fallen slightly below normal for the season with 12.61 inches season July 1.

Chain controls were still in effect on Highway 50 in the higher Sierra elevations Thursday morning as the cool, crisp conditions mixed with snow and black ice.
"It's kind of a bummer that we have to chain up," Shauna Varga said.
Chain control in effect at 6,100 feet in Twin Bridges had cars and trucks lined up.
"It's just part of the job," trucker Chris Cartolano said.
The black ice on Highway 50 had people driving with caution. Even with the sun out, it can cause spinouts and accidents.
"I took my time going up because you never know when there is shaded spots," Varga said. "It looks like it's just wet, it could be a patch of ice."
Varga knows all too well the dangers of black ice, having grown up in the area.
"Safety is best," she said. "I have a truck full of kids."
At chain control, Caltrans said 3 inches of fresh snow fell in about a two-hour period.
"You don't know what to expect, and you just have to go with the flow, do what ever they tell you," trucker Stan Archer said. "Can't fight mother nature."
