Standoff Ends With Man's Arrest In Elk Grove

ELK GROVE (CBS13) -- A man wanted for a stabbing Sunday night was holed up in an Elk Grove home for nearly three hours Monday night before a police K-9 police dog tracked him down when he made a run for it.

A SWAT team tried negotiations, a loud speaker and then gassed the home in the 9800 block of El Mirado Drive but was unable to get the man to come out.

Finally, apparently the gas forced the man to try to escape, but the K-9 grabbed onto him trapped at a fence.

He's the suspect in a late-night Sacramento stabbing on Sonoma Avenue. The victim was transported to the hospital and is expected to live, according to police.

Elk Grove Police told people on El Mirado Drive to stay inside their homes during the standoff.

The suspect could be heard screaming repeatedly when the K-9 made contact and had to receive medical attention. The dog also may have been injured in the encounter.
