Speeding Car Slams Into Power Pole, Dental Office
ARDEN ARCADE (CBS13) – Traffic is back moving smoothly after a chaotic crash scene near Arden Way and Watt Avenue Thursday morning.
California Highway Patrol says that the driver of a sedan was speeding in the area and left the roadway, taking out a power pole, water lines and trees before it slammed into the Western Dental office in the area.
The crash took out the entire front of the office, while the downed power lines knocked out power to 850 people, according to SMUD.
Adding to the damage was the fact that, due to the crash, a power pole dipped across Watt Avenue and was clipped by a big box truck that didn't see it. The truck then dragged the line some distance, basically pulling down another power and blowing a transformer.
SMUD, PG&E and AT&T crews were out at the scene.
CHP believes at least two people were inside the car at the time of the crash but took off before officers arrived. The passengers are believed to have been injured.
