Special Education Teacher From Elk Grove Suspected Of Raping Disabled Student In Vallejo
VALLEJO, Calif. (AP) -- A special education teacher at a Vallejo elementary school has been arrested on suspicion of raping a developmentally disabled student on campus.
Vallejo police say 56-year-old Jerry Johnson was taken into custody at his home in Elk Grove around 5:30 p.m. Monday on suspicion of raping a person who is incapable of consenting.
Johnson, a teacher at Loma Vista Elementary School, allegedly raped the 18-year-old woman on campus at the end of February.
Lt. Eric Mortenson tells the Times-Herald of Vallejo that the attack was reported earlier this month. He says the woman, who had apparently assisted Johnson with other developmentally disabled students, has the mental capacity of a 7-year-old.
