I-5 Shut Down After Drivers Crash Into Goats
GALT, Calif. (CBS13) -- Interstate 5 was shut down Saturday evening after multiple vehicles wrecked while trying to avoid a herd of animals that ran onto the freeway.
At least 100 goats ran onto the interstate just south of Twin Cities at about 7:15 p.m., and several surprised drivers were unable to avoid them.
Authorities said at least 30 to 40 goats were killed and dozens more are still wandering on the roadway. One female driver was transported to the hospital for treatment. Her condition has not been released.
All lanes on both directions of the interstate were closed after the accidents. One of the northbound lanes has since reopened.
