Small Plane Flying To Sacramento Crashes 35 Miles Outside Fresno
FRESNO, Calif. (AP) -- A single-engine plane flying from Fresno to Sacramento crashed in the mountains after the pilot radioed in that the aircraft had low oil pressure and was going down.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor said search crews on Thursday found the wreckage of a Piper PA28 in the Sierra Nevada mountains about 35 miles north-northeast of Fresno.
The pilot, who was the only person onboard, was found walking outside the aircraft, but Gregor said his condition is unknown.
According to FAA records, the plane is registered to Arnie Peterson of Big Pine in Inyo County, and Paul Baldwin.
