Mardi Gras or "Fat Tuesday" celebrates the "Carnival season". Marking the first day of Lent, it falls the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday; however in Sacramento the parties can start early and run late, so get your beads ready. For those looking for a spiritual, soulful, cultural Mardi Gras event, look no further, the Mardi Gras Ball of Sacramento is the place to be. Featuring a King and Queen processional, authentic Creole cuisine, dancing, live music and entertainment. While the dinner will offer free beads to the partying patrons, a Mardi Gras Brunch to benefit the homeless and a daytime "family event" will also be offered earlier in the day.
Mardi Gras 2012 Celebration Pub Crawl

In the heart of Old Sacramento, the Mardi Gras 2012 celebration will continue. On this Mardi Gras roster, party-goers will find live music and entertainment, while they party their way through a self guided pub crawl. VIP tickets to access a dozen bars in Old Sac will be available. Beads and drink specials are on the menu at the clubs, pubs and bars throughout the crawl.

Winner of Sacramento's "best place to karaoke", The River City Saloon will host its Mardi Gras Party with live music from Western Lights and at 9 p.m. kick off some of their famed sing-a-longs. Poor Boy Sandwich specials will feed the hungry and drink specials will be flowing.
