Shots Fired Near Stockton Police Officers

STOCKTON (CBS13) -- Stockton police officers were investigating a shooting into a residence when they were fired on themselves Thursday night.

Officers and an evidence technician were investigating an incident of a gang shooting at a residence in the area of San Miguel and Pio Pica on Thursday night at about 9:30 p.m. when five to six gunshots were fired in their vicinity, according to police.

This is the second time in recent months that officers have been fired upon.

The rounds were heard striking tree branches about 10 to 15 feet above three officers who were standing on the corner.

The area was secured but officers were unable to find any suspects or any evidence indicating where the shots originated from. There was also no indication any other homes were hit.
