Shooting Investigation Shuts Down WB I-80 At Madison Avenue
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — The California Highway Patrol is investigating a freeway shooting on westbound I-80.
All westbound lanes of the freeway were shut down at Madison Avenue. Westbound traffic was diverted onto Madison Avenue Monday night.
Officers say two vehicles are involved in this incident and were both shot near Arden Way. According to CHP, the first vehicle pulled over after getting hit while the second vehicle continued driving, ending up on westbound I-80 near the light rail station.
The second vehicle was struck by bullets in the doors and windows. The female driver of that vehicle was struck by bullets and was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
According to CHP, the driver of the first vehicle was not hit and remained on scene with investigators.
The Auburn Boulevard and Watt Avenue onramps were also closed.
Originally, around 10 p.m., CHP shut down traffic at the Business 80 split. Traffic was being diverted onto Business 80.
