Sheriff's Department Releases Sketch Of Sacramento Sexual Assault Suspect
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department is searching for a man wanted in connection to two recent sexual assaults in the Arden Arcade area.
In the first assault, a woman in her 20s was attacked inside her apartment in the 3100 block of Trussel Way on Nov. 23.
"If he did it twice, he's going to do to it again. It's not his first time," said one female resident.
The suspect was described as a white or Hispanic male, 5-foot-8 to 6 feet tall, 180 to 220 pounds, with a medium to stocky build. He wore a gray hooded sweatshirt and a white bandana that covered his face.
The suspect entered the victim's apartment through an unlocked point of entry and sexually assaulted her before fleeing.
Two weeks later on Dec. 7, a man with the same physical description forced a woman in her 30s into her apartment in the 2200 block of Howe Avenue. In this case, the suspect wore a black watch cap. He also sexually assaulted the woman before fleeing.
"We think this is definitely the suspect responsible for both, and we have to recognize the possibility there could be additional victims," said Sgt. Jason Ramos.
Investigators say the attacker seems to be getting gutsier, by not attempting to cover his face in the most recent attack. In both rapes he would break into the victim's apartments. In one case, he pushed his way in as the victim was coming home.
"People that commit this kind of crime and get away with it once, they do it again and again," said Ramos.
As deputies review previous cases for possible links, female residents of the complexes are on heightened alert.
"Be very aware of your surroundings, and the people you see around you," said one woman.
The fear is that the attacks could continue, and they could escalate.
"If something goes wrong during that process, he could kill somebody," said another resident.
Despite the sketch of the suspect and descriptions of him, investigators are not able to estimate his age.
Composite sketches have been prepared in connection with both of these incidents. Anyone who thinks they know the identity of the individual depicted in the sketches is asked to call the Sheriff's Sex Assault Bureau at (916) 874-5070.
