Sheridan House Fire Possibly Suspicious
SHERIDAN (CBS13) - Sheriff's deputies are investigating a fire that torched a home near Lincoln early Friday morning.
The fire broke out just after 5 a.m. in the community of Sheridan, which is just north of Lincoln on Highway 65.
Firefighters believe the fire started on the front porch of the home. However, the cause of the fire is unknown, but believed to be suspicious.
Investigators from the Placer County Sheriff's Department say three people were inside the home at the time, and heard some type of commotion on the front porch before a suspected accelerant erupted.
However, that contradicted what homeowners told CBS13. The residents said they were not home at the time.
Neighbor told CBS13 that they did hear an explosion before the fire.
The fire has been extinguished.
