Several People Robbed During Craigslist-Related Meetings In Oakland
OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Oakland police have issued a warning about a series of robberies of people responding to items advertised for sale on Craigslist.
Police say several people have been robbed at gunpoint over the last several weeks after agreeing to meet a person advertising a car or an electronic item for sale.
KTVU-TV reports that at least four of the robberies took place this week, including one man who was robbed at gunpoint of $6,500 when he responded to a posting for a car for sale.
Police are recommending that anyone buying something from someone off of Craigslist should meet the seller in a well-populated area.
Police are even offering the police department as a possible meeting location.
