Series Of Storms Expected To Hit On Monday
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - A major storm system originating from the Gulf of Alaska is expected to hit the Sacramento area on Monday night.
There's a 70 percent chance of rain Monday night and a 90 percent chance of rain Tuesday. The storm is expected to linger all week and into next weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
The Sacramento area could get about 3 inches of rain over the next three days and the Sierra Nevada is expected to receive 2-4 feet of new snow above 5,000 feet.
Winds will also be strong with this storm, gusting to as a high as 38 mph in the Sacramento region Monday and Tuesday before dying down on Wednesday.
The National Weather Service's Reno office has issued a winter storm watch beginning Tuesday morning and ending Wednesday night. Blowing snow could make driving difficult in the mountains.
