Series Of Small Quakes Hit Near Concord
CONCORD (CBS13) – Parts of the East Bay was awoken by three small earthquakes Wednesday morning.
According to the US Geological Survey, the first quake hit just after 7 a.m., centered east of Highway 242 near Concord. It has been given the preliminary rating of a 3.2 magnitude. A slightly larger, about 3.6 magnitude, quake hit just after 7:30 am.
A 2.6 preliminary magnitude aftershock quickly followed the larger quake.
KPIX-TV reports over 100 people, mostly in Pleasant Hill, felt the quakes.
The Concord area has seen a flurry of quake activity since Sunday, when a preliminary 4.0 magnitude hit. USGS later downgraded the Sunday quake to a 3.6.
There have been no reports of damage due Sunday's and the latest quake.
