Second Suspect Identified In Videotaped Attack
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) -- The Sacramento Police Department has identified a second suspect in the unprovoked attack of a woman in Sacramento that was videotaped and posted online.
Police are searching for 19-year-old Donnell Wade in the attack Oct. 1 in front of a doughnut shop in a south Sacramento strip mall on Mack Raod.
Police were made aware of the viral video on Wednesday. It shows two suspects taunting and then striking the 42-year-old woman. Detectives arrested Rasaan Zawadi on Thursday on assault with a gang enhancement.
The department has received calls from throughout the country asking about the investigation. Detectives assigned to the case discovered that patrol officers responded to an assault call on Oct. 1 at about 12:11 p.m., near Center Parkway and Mack Road. The suspects had fled the scene and the victim said she didn't want to press charges at that time.
After officers saw the video image of the suspects and with crime tips that came in from the public, detectives have been able to identify the suspects.
Wade has a warrant for assault with a gang enhancement. He's believed to be the second suspect who punches the woman to the ground at the end of the video.
The Sacramento Police Department asks that anyone with information pertaining to this suspect to contact Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP (4357) or text in a tip to 274637 (CRIMES). Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
