Seattle Mayor Making 'Major Announcement' About City's Arena Plan
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - With 14-days left for Sacramento to come up with a plan for a new arena to keep the Kings, Seattle could be announcing the city has a plan to build a new arena of their own.
That would lay the groundwork for Seattle stealing the Kings from Sacramento.
A hedge fund manager, Chris Hansen, has met with the Seattle mayor and city council president. Today, Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn has scheduled a new conference to reveal a "major announcement" related to a new sports arena.
This moves comes just days after the Sacramento city council voted to continue the process of potentially privatizing city parking which would help fund a new arena here in the capital city.
The NBA set a deadline of March first for Sacramento to come up with a plan to fund the arena.
