UPDATE: New Clues Found In Elk Grove Missing Teen Case
ELK GROVE (CBS13) - It was another day of intense searching, but 15-year-old Shabnam Ahmadyar is still no where to be found.
"We're all very concerned about her welfare, and that's why we're acting with so many people involved," said Salaiman Ahmadyar, her brother.
It was Friday when Shabnam, who suffers from mental illness, went out for a jog, but never returned. Last seen in a gray shirt, sweatpants and sporting pigtails, she'd been caught on video surveillance at a local store, and then another clue appeared.
"We think she was standing on top of the dock at one time," said Det. Jim Kang, Elk Grove Police Department.
Some of Shabnam's dry clothing was found on a dock on the Sacramento Delta near the town of Hood. Police believe she wandered there all the way from her South Elk Grove home.
"This is just one avenue we are exploring. There are possible other sightings. We have investigators and crews on the way to see if that's legitimate, valid," said Kang.
The family is begging for help as a coast guard crew, fearing the worst, focused on the water nearby the dock. A search dog confirmed her scent in the water. Eventually an underwater camera would be used, but yields no leads. Despite their concentration in the water, police are still keeping hope.
"It is not recovery mission whatsoever, in fact, we have a lot of hope to find her alive," said Kang.
