School Bus Goes Up In Flames On Highway 50 In Sacramento
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – It was a frightening sight for motorists on Highway 50 Friday morning as a school bus went up in flames. Fortunately, there were no children on board.
The brand new school bus was being transferred between districts when the driver said she heard a pop while driving on eastbound Highway 50 near Jefferson Boulevard around 9:30 a.m., according to California Highway Patrol officers who responded.
She said she then smelled smoke and saw fire coming from the engine, so she pulled off to the side of the freeway.
West Sacramento firefighters were able to douse the fire. No one was hurt, however, the bus was heavily damaged.
