Sacramento building catches fire twice in one night, firefighters say
SACRAMENTO – A vacant building that once housed the Volunteers of America organization in Sacramento went up in flames twice in one night, authorities say.
Sacramento Fire says, a little after 10 p.m. Monday, crews responded to a fire alarm at the building on Sequoia Pacific Boulevard. Firefighters found a small fire inside and put it out.
One person was arrested at the scene and taken to Sacramento County Jail. Exactly what the person was arrested for has not been disclosed by authorities.
Hours later, Sacramento Fire says another blaze erupted at the same building. This incident prompted a two-alarm response, with crews saying the flames concentrated in the attic.
Firefighters noted that the flames were difficult to contain in this second incident due to the high ceilings.
The cause of that fire is under investigation.
