Sacramento State Students Rally On Social Media To Find Stroke Victim A Job

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — When a man with a masters in mechanical engineering lost his job at a Sacramento State sandwich shop, students turned to social media to help him out.

Cheng Wang is a Chinese immigrant who suffered a debilitating stroke after he graduated in the early '90s. His ability to walk and speak were affected, and his ability to work in his field of study.

"Mostly part-time, full-time working as an interpreter," he said.

He began selling sandwiches from a cart in the quad on campus for Togo's, something he did for two decades until he was recently let go.

With no money, all he had left was his faith.

When they found out what happened, students on campus went into action through social media, and demanded school administrators find Wang a job.

And it worked.

When the university's police chief heard about Wang's plight, he gave him a uniform and a job at the information counter. He's now handing out brochures and lots of smiles.

CBS13 reached out to Togo's at Sac State to find out why Wang was released, but they haven't responded yet.
