Sacramento Republic FC Releases First Stadium Renderings

by Russell Preston, KHTK Sacramento

It was announced Tuesday by Sacramento Soccer and Entertainment Holdings (SSEH), the first renderings of the MLS stadium to be built in Sacramento, if the city is selected as a part of the league's expansion. The designs (created by architecture firm HNTB) are a part of the city's bid to promote the Sacramento Republic soccer team from the USL to the MLS.

The release of the designs marked a big step in 'Operation Turnkey,' a program Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson as well as SSEH Managing Partner Kevin Nagle and Republic FC President Warren Smith launched back in April of this year. If all goes according to plan and Sacramento is chosen to become a part of the MLS expansion, the stadium could be built and ready to use by the 2018 season.

"Congratulations to Sacramento Republic FC on the release of new stadium preliminary renderings that offer an exciting glimpse into the future of downtown Sacramento," said Mayor Johnson said in a press release. "Today's news also marks the successful completion of Operation Turnkey, one month ahead of schedule. Time and again, Sacramento has proven that we are a community, a Republic, that delivers and let there be no doubt that Sacramento is ready for Major League Soccer."
