SACRAMENTO — Sacramento Republic FC is parting ways with head coach Mark Briggs.

Briggs leaves Sacramento as the winningest coach in club history and a true ambassador to the capital region.

While the club qualified for the playoffs four times in Briggs' five years at the helm, they could never make it past the USL Western Conference finals. Through those five seasons and 170 matches, Sacramento had a record of 74-49-47.

Briggs released the following statement:

"Sacramento is a very special place, with a one-of-a-kind club and incredible fans. I'd like to thank the players who've been a part of the past five years, the front office who've been incredibly supportive, and the fans who welcomed me into the club with tremendous passion and vigor. I'm grateful for my time here and it has been an honor to be a part of this community."

Briggs also led Sacramento to the 2022 U.S. Open Cup final.

"As always these are tough decisions. I can't say enough about Mark, both in his coaching and his desire to win," Republic FC Chairman and Owner Kevin Nagle said. "I wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors."

General Manager Todd Duinvante said the club will now focus on finding its next head coach and building a championship roster for 2025 and beyond.

As of this announcement, Republic FC only has six players who have re-signed to long-term deals. The club said it will, in the coming weeks, announce its preliminary roster transactions and new player acquisitions for next season.
