Sacramento Prodigy, 11, Competing On 'Child Genius' Reality Show
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A Sacramento prodigy is competing for college funding on a reality show.
Tanishq Abraham, 11, graduated high school and started college all before the age of 10. Now he's competing against other child geniuses on a show aptly named "Child Genius."
"I want to go into the medical field but I do like engineering as well," he said. "I'm 11 and now I'm a full-time college student at American River College."
He started college at 7 and hopes to transfer to UC Davis this fall. It's his high IQ that caught the eyes of the show's producers. He'll be competing against other gifted kids for a $100,000 college fund. They'll be quizzed on 16 categories, including geography, spelling and math.
"The math one was kind of hard, because I'm not good at mental math," he said.
But he doesn't need to prove he's smart with a reality show. He says he did it for fun.
"Meeting kids like me was the best part of being on the show," he said.
The show is already playing on Lifetime. It airs on Tuesdays, and the first two episodes have already aired
