Sacramento Man Gets 4 Years In Prison For Killing Father
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) -- A Sacramento man who killed his father has been sentenced to four years in state prison.
The Sacramento Bee says 28-year-old Nicholas Emmett was sentenced Wednesday after pleading no contest to involuntary manslaughter.
Prosecutors say he killed 56-year-old Douglas Emmett last year at the apartment they shared.
Records show that in the 15 months prior to killing, Emmett was arrested four times for assaulting or threatening to kill his father and pleaded no contest to battery.
However, an autopsy listed the cause of death as undetermined. It showed that the father had suffered blunt force injuries and asphyxiation but he also had heart disease and had methamphetamine in his system at the time of his death.
