Former Cracker Barrel restaurant in Sacramento damaged in early morning fire
SACRAMENTO COUNTY – Firefighters worked quickly to stop the flames from an external fire from spreading into a vacant restaurant building early Tuesday morning.
Metro Fire of Sacramento crews responded to the scene near Howe Avenue and Village Drive around 5:30 a.m.
Crews found that something had caught on fire outside of the building – a former Cracker Barrel restaurant – and the flames were extending into a wall.
The flames were quickly knocked down, but firefighters were also checking the building for more damage.
Exactly what started the fire is under investigation.
The building previously housed Sacramento's lone Cracker Barrel location. It closed in April 2024. A sign outside the building noted that a new restaurant, Captain Buffet, is "coming soon."
