SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - A Sacramento elementary school was on locked down Friday morning while the area was searched for a parolee that ran from sheriff's deputies.
Deputies attempted to pick up the suspect around 9:15 a.m. for an outstanding felony warrant, according to sheriff's spokesperson Sgt. Lisa Bowman.
A perimeter with about 20 deputies was established in the Arden-Arcade area around Edison Avenue and Bell Street, where Dyer-Kelly Elementary School is located.
Some parents showed up at the school, but weren't allowed to pick up their children.
"They won't give me my kids. They don't know what's going on. They say they don't know if the man is armed or dangerous," one mother said.
Bowman said there was no indication the suspect was armed.
The lockdown was lifted around 11 a.m.
