Sacramento County man who molested 2 kids for over a decade gets 96 years in prison
SACRAMENTO — A Sacramento County man was sentenced to 96 years in prison for molesting two minors for more than a decade beginning in the mid-1990s, prosecutors said Monday.
Michael Wayne Huey was convicted last month of 16 counts of child molestation with force, violence or duress for crimes committed from 1995 to 2008, the Sacramento County District Attorney's Office said. He was also found to be in possession of digital images depicting child sexual abuse.
Huey knew the victims and took advantage of a position of trust, officials said. He was found to have threatened to harm one of the victim's family members if the child told anyone of the crimes.
The district attorney's office said "the crimes involved great violence, great bodily harm, threats of great bodily harm or other acts disclosing a high degree of cruelty, viciousness or callousness; and the manner in which the crimes were carried out indicates planning, sophistication or professionalism."
Under California Law, an individual can qualify for elder parole once the reach the age of 50 and serve at least 20 years of their sentence. Due to Huey's current age, 54, and his in-custody credits, the district attorney's office said he would be eligible in around 17 years.
